Chapter 6 - The Breakout at Aspen PinesThe Aspen Pines facility didn't look like a prison from the outside; it looked like a peaceful, upscale psychiatric recovery center nestled deep in the heavily wooded hills of Westchester County, surrounded by tall pine trees and iron security fences.

By 2:00 AM, three black Escalades had cut the facility's power grid, plunging the grounds into absolute darkness.

Dante and four armed operatives breached the side security door with hydraulic cutters, moving through the sterile, dimly lit corridors with ruthless efficiency. Private guards hired by Nathan's shell company were neutralized before they could even draw their weapons.

I stayed right behind Ricardo as we surged up the stairwell to the third floor.

"Room 402," Ricardo muttered, his hand resting tightly on the grip of his Sig Sauer.

We rounded the corner. Two private guards stood outside a heavy reinforced door at the end of the hall.

Before they could raise their rifles, Dante and his men moved like phantoms, taking them down in a silent, coordinated sweep.

Ricardo didn't bother picking the lock. He raised his boot and kicked the heavy wooden door straight off its reinforced hinges with a deafening crash.

We rushed inside.

The room smelled of antiseptic and lingering sedatives. In the center of a narrow hospital bed lay a woman.

Her skin was pale, her dark hair tangled around her shoulders, but the moment the bright hallway light hit her face, the resemblance to Leo was undeniable.

Elena Moretti.

She stirred weakly, her eyelids fluttering open as she blinked against the glare.

"Ricardo?" her voice was a fragile, disbelieving whisper, like a ghost speaking from the grave. "Am I... am I dreaming?"

Ricardo dropped his gun, fell to his knees beside the bed, and buried his face in her frail hands, his broad shoulders shaking with a sob he had held back for six agonizing months.

"You're not dreaming, amore," he choked out, kissing her knuckles over and over again. "I found you. I'm taking you home."

I stood by the doorway, watching the reunion through a blur of sudden tears.

Elena looked past Ricardo’s shoulder, her tired eyes landing on me. There was no jealousy in her gaze—only profound, eternal gratitude.

"Who..." she whispered.

"Her name is Clara," Ricardo said, looking back at me with tears unashamedly shining in his dark eyes. "She saved our son. And she brought me to you."
