Chapter 6 - The UnravelingThe ballroom erupted into chaotic whispers. Camera flashes blinded the stage as reporters surged forward, frantically recording every second.

"Security! Remove him!" Margaret screamed, her voice cracking into an unhinged, high-pitched screech. "Remove them all immediately!"
Before any security guard could move, four uniformed federal agents stepped out from the side corridors, blocking the exits and securing the stage.
Nathan Cross stepped up to the podium beside Richard, unlatching his leather briefcase and pulling out a thick stack of certified legal documents. He adjusted his glasses and spoke directly into the microphone.
"My name is Nathan Cross, legal counsel representing Mrs. Emily Carter-Whitmore," Nathan announced, his voice booming across the speakers. "Six years ago, following the tragic passing of Michael Whitmore, Mrs. Margaret Whitmore committed grand larceny, financial fraud, and identity theft."
Nathan pulled up a series of documents onto the massive digital screens lining the ballroom walls—screens that had been set up to display the foundation's promotional video.
Instead, the screens displayed high-resolution scans of the forged five-million-dollar insurance policy payout, the illegal offshore account transfers, and the suppressed 1940s family trust agreement.
"As you can see on these certified court records," Nathan continued coldly, "Margaret Whitmore forged her daughter-in-law's signature to steal a five-million-dollar insurance policy. She illegally suppressed the true Whitmore Family Trust, which legally leaves fifty percent of Whitmore Enterprises and the Greenwich estate to Michael's surviving children—Olivia, Grace, and Lily Whitmore."
The room let out a collective, horrified gasp. Society ladies covered their mouths in disgust, while prominent business leaders stared at Margaret with absolute contempt.
"And for six years," Richard’s voice cut through the noise, dropping like a sledgehammer, "Margaret Whitmore forced this grieving mother and her three young daughters to live in a windowless storage room beside the laundry machines of her estate, treating them as unpaid servants while claiming they were 'useless' because they were girls."
"Liars! You're all liars!" Margaret shrieked, her face contorting in manic rage as she rushed toward the stage, her diamond bracelets clattering loudly. "She gave me no grandsons! She ruined my son's legacy! That money belonged to the family name! My name!"
"Your legacy ends tonight, Margaret," I said, stepping up to the microphone myself. My voice was calm, clear, and steady, echoing into every corner of the vast room.
I looked down at her, no longer feeling a single grain of fear.
"My daughters are not disappointments," I said, looking into the cameras that were broadcasting this live to news networks across the country. "They are Michael’s true legacy. They are intelligent, loving, and strong. And they will grow up knowing that their mother took back everything you tried to steal from them."
The lead federal agent stepped behind Margaret, pulling a pair of cold steel handcuffs from his belt.
"Margaret Whitmore, you are under arrest for federal bank fraud, grand larceny, forgery, and child endangerment," the agent declared, snapping the cuffs around her wrists.

The sound of the metallic CLICK echoed clearly through the microphone.
Margaret let out a horrific, humiliated scream as she was led away through the middle of the ballroom, surrounded by popping camera flashes and the disgusted glares of the very people whose respect she had spent her whole life trying to buy.
