Chapter 2 - The Matriarch's Collapse(Focus: Victoria’s outrage turns to absolute terror as Audrey reveals she has already liquidated the Vance family’s primary credit lines and corporate accounts.)

For three agonizing seconds, the bedroom was a vacuum of sound. Victoria Vance stood frozen in the doorway, her expensive silk scarf fluttering slightly in the draft from the hallway. Her eyes darted from the black riding crop under the bed, to her son’s twisted arm, and finally up to my calm, unbothered expression.
"What... what is the meaning of this?!" Victoria finally shrieked, her voice cracking into a high-pitched gale of fury. She rushed forward, her designer purse swinging wildly. "Audrey, get your filthy hands off my son this instant! Dominic, get up! Why are you letting this peasant girl treat you like an animal?!"
"He can't get up, Victoria," I said smoothly, not shifting my weight an inch. "Because if he moves without my permission, his shoulder will dislocate, and he has a very important press conference tomorrow morning, doesn't he?"
"Audrey, please!" Dominic whimpered against the floor, tears of pure pain and embarrassment escaping his eyes. "Mom, don't scream at her! Just... just tell her we'll sign whatever she wants!"
Victoria stopped dead in her tracks, her face twisting into an expression of absolute disgust. "Sign? You will sign nothing! Audrey, I don't care what kind of ghetto street-fighting tricks you learned in your pathetic neighborhood. You are married to a Vance now. You are legally bound to our corporation. If you don't release him right now, I will call the police and have you thrown into a cell for domestic assault!"
"Go ahead, Victoria. Call them," I smiled, using my free hand to point toward the velvet sofa. "But before you do, make sure to save the live-stream video currently recording on Dominic’s phone. He was kind enough to record the entire sequence, including the part where he locked the door, pulled out a weapon, and threatened to illegally seize my assets under physical duress. I'm sure the NYPD's special victims unit will find the footage absolutely fascinating."
Victoria’s eyes flew to the blinking red light on the smartphone. Her sophisticated posture collapsed instantly, her shoulders slumping as the legal reality of the situation crashed through her arrogance.
Slowly, I released my grip on Dominic's arm and stepped backward, smoothing down the lace of my wedding dress as if I had merely stood up from a polite tea party. Dominic scrambled away from me on his hands and knees, clutching his bruised shoulder, weeping softly as he hid behind his mother’s skirts.
"You think you're so clever, don't you?" Victoria hissed, her voice dropping into a low, venomous growl as she helped her sweating son onto the edge of the bed. "You think an annulment protects you? Our family controls the primary logistics contracts for your father's development company. If you leave this room tonight, we will pull our supply chains by sunrise. Your father’s business will face a technical default within forty-eight hours. We will ruin you financially, Audrey!"
"Correction, Victoria," I said, pulling my own phone from the concealed silk pocket of my gown. "You used to control those contracts."
I tapped the screen once, displaying a live financial notification from the state commerce registry.
"Two days ago, while you were busy planning my 'training schedule' with your son, my father and I finalized the acquisition of Global Logistics Partners—your primary creditor," I revealed, holding the screen right in front of her face. "As of 9:00 PM tonight, the Vance Corporation’s $30 million line of credit has been officially called in for immediate repayment due to a breach of the character and ethics clause in our corporate merger agreement."
Victoria grabbed the phone from my hand, her eyes scanning the digital stamps and the undeniable signature of the state attorney general. The papers she was holding in her own hand—the ones meant to strip me of my wealth—slipped from her fingers, scattering across the Persian rug like dead leaves.

"No... no, this is illegal! This is a setup!" Victoria whispered, her voice completely devoid of its usual aristocratic weight.
"It’s just business, Victoria," I replied, taking my phone back. "You wanted an obedient bride who brought a fortune into your family. Instead, you brought an executioner into your house. Now, Dominic, pick up that pen from the floor, and sign the annulment papers. If you don't, the market opens in six hours, and I will personally ensure the press receives the video from your sofa."
