Chapter 7 - The Empire of LightTrue power isn't measured by how many enemies fear your name; it's measured by the peace inside the home you built for the ones you love.

Six months later.

The sun was setting in brilliant hues of gold and purple over the rolling green lawns of the Garrison estate.

The once-fortified mansion had been completely transformed. The heavy iron shutters and tactical turrets were gone, replaced by sprawling rose gardens, marble fountains, and a massive playground built on the soft grass near the cliffside.

Soft acoustic guitar music drifted through the warm summer air.

A small, elegant white marquee was set up on the lawn, filled with fairy lights, fresh flowers, and tables laden with gourmet food.

Sitting at the tables were my trusted capos, Wesley, my core security team, and close friends who had proven their loyalty during the war. The criminal empire had been completely legitimized over the past six months, converted into a clean, massive logistics and investment conglomerate.

The dark days of blood and shadows were finally over.

I stood near the altar, wearing a sharp dark-blue tuxedo, holding Posie’s little hand. She wore a fluffy white flower-girl dress with a silver ribbon tied around her waist, holding a small basket of rose petals.

"Are you nervous, Daddy?" Posie asked, looking up at me with those bright, pale gray eyes.

I knelt down, straightening her tiny silver tiara. "Not at all, princess. I've been waiting for this moment for four years."

The music shifted into a slow, breathtaking melody.

Everyone stood up, looking toward the garden path.

Mave walked down the aisle, looking like an absolute vision in an off-the-shoulder lace bridal gown that trailed gracefully over the green grass. She held a bouquet of white peonies, her dark-blonde hair styled in soft waves, her face radiant with pure, unadulterated happiness.

When she reached the altar, I took her hand into mine. Her fingers were warm, steady, and filled with love.

The minister smiled at us both, reciting the ancient vows of devotion, trust, and everlasting unity.

When it came time for the rings, Posie proudly handed us the velvet box.

I slid the diamond-and-sapphire band onto Mave’s finger, looking deep into her eyes.

"I promised to protect you once," I said, my voice rich with deep emotion. "Today, I promise to spend the rest of my life making up for every tear you shed while we were apart. You are my queen, my home, and my soul."

Mave slid a matching platinum band onto my finger, her eyes shining with happy tears. "You saved us, Garrett. You gave us a life I thought was impossible. I love you with everything I am."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the minister declared joyfully. "You may kiss the bride!"

I pulled Mave into my arms, dipping her gently back as I pressed my lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed our souls together forever.

The entire crowd erupted into thunderous, joyous applause. Posie giggled loudly, throwing rose petals into the air and jumping up and down.

I lifted Mave up, then reached down with my other arm, picking up Posie, holding both of my girls tightly against my chest.

As the golden sun dipped below the horizon, bathing the Hudson Valley in a warm, breathtaking light, I looked at my wife and daughter.

I had walked away from my own wedding four months ago, ready to lose everything.

In return, I had gained the only empire that truly mattered.
